and there is a huge selection of personal care products like deodorant, body spray and hair products. Seriously, these people spray so much Axe and body spray on them that you can walk down the sidewalk and smell someone who was there 10 minutes before you. Some of the men spray Axe on their clothes as an alternative to washing – I’ve seen it with my own eyes in a hostel. But for some reason, this high level of primping does not spill over to shaving products. There is a massive selection of razors for men. Maybe 10 times as many as for women. But for women, there’s only the horrible disposable, 2-blade Schick/Bic razors. What is up with that? Or, if you want really high quality, maybe you can buy the 3 blade Gillette that hit the American market in 2000. Just remember that you’ll have to ask someone to unlock the glass cabinets where it lives with the nail polish.

So I don’t know what they do about this lack of selection. Maybe everyone waxes? Who knows, but I have asked my mom to bring copious amounts of blade refills for my Venus razor (the one that even has a nice strip of aloe on it) when she visits and I’m hoping she doesn’t get stopped at customs slash security. I don’t think security would care so much, unless they think she’s going to shave/aloe someone to death. I had no idea I would ever care so much about razors. It’s the little things that you begin to appreciate when you travel. The little things. -A
